The book by Bergsten and Gagnon is most probably the intellectual foundation for the new US unilateralism. The solutions proposed are from the macro & currency realm, especially the “Currency Counter-Initiative”, but the most probable measures, even if as second-best, are again from the trade policy arsenal.
